Send the wishlist. Let your people get you something you actually want.
Make your birthday wishlist
1. Create your atpesa page, or open your dashboard if you already have one. Finish setting up your receiving details so the page can accept gifts.
2. Open Manage wishes & goals, then Add a wish or goal. Give it a name your friends will recognise. “Headphones for my birthday” does the job.
3. Add a target, a photo and a short reason. “For my commute, study sessions and pretending I can’t hear my flatmate.” A shop link helps people see what you have in mind.
4. Choose two to five suggested amounts, or keep the defaults. Friends can always enter their own amount. Add a thank-you message or video if you fancy it.
5. Add it to your page and use the wish’s share icon. That link takes friends straight to your headphones. Your main atpesa.me link shows your whole wishlist, plus general support.
Okay, but how do I ask?
Try this when someone asks what you want.
Friend — “Birthday person! What are we getting you?”
You — “Headphones, please 😭 I made a wishlist. You can atpesa me towards them. Sending the link.”
For your WhatsApp Status or Instagram Story, keep it light.
“Birthday loading 🎂 If you’re doing gifts, atpesa me towards my headphones. Wishlist link right here. Come for cake either way.”
Attach your copied wish link. For a bio, your address will look like atpesa.me/yourname. Replace “yourname” with your own handle.
What your friends see
They open the link, choose an amount, leave a message and pay using the available M-Pesa or card option. They don’t need an atpesa account to chip in. Confirmed contributions move your wish forward.
You receive money towards the headphones and buy them yourself. Leave room in your target for payment deductions, and allow for the standard two-working-day payout schedule. Check the current details before planning a birthday shopping trip.
